Have you got a keen eye for detail and are interested in using CCTV? This role offers the opportunity to join a team that plays a crucial part in reducing congestion on the road traffic network through CCTV enforcement.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret and apply legislation and regulations to enforce moving traffic offences or parking restrictions in real time through CCTV and ANPR (e.g., Red Routes, low emission zones, car‑free city centre, bus gates).
- Use CCTV and ANPR infrastructure to identify contraventions, capture evidential images, and produce accurate Penalty Charge Notices.
- Accurately input contravention details into the processing system, maintaining exhaustive records and ensuring prioritisation of contraventions.
- Prepare evidence packs and witness statements for appeals and Traffic Penalty Tribunal hearings.
- Maintain the exemption list by evaluating requests and evidence.
- Handle inquiries from the public, police or colleagues regarding CCTV/digital evidence and resolve complaints.
- Report incidents such as anti‑social behaviour or road network disruptions to the monitoring officer and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor CCTV, ANPR cameras, signs and lines to ensure they remain operational; authorise necessary repairs.
- Produce evidence and reports to inform internal and external partners and support future planning.
- Protect council data and handle requests for CCTV/digital information in compliance with legislation.
- Provide first‑point contact for internal and external customers via online, phone and written communication, ensuring appropriate and sensitive responses.
- Assist Transport Control Centre operations, primarily monitoring the network and providing customer service in car‑park monitoring.
- Deputise for the Control Centre Team Leader(s) as required.
Training and qualifications
- BTEC Level 3 in traffic enforcement.
- BTEC Level 3 principles and practices in CCTV operation.
- BTEC Level 2 working as a CCTV operator.
Contract details
- Salary: £29,064 – £31,022 per annum.
- Contractual hours: 37 per week.
- Basis: Fixed hours.
