Job Description:

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join the Data Center Power & Control Division Starline Team in Reading, UK. This position is responsible for supporting lean transformation and daily management initiatives by ensuring strategies are implemented and principles, practices, and tools are incorporated into the culture and processes under transformation. The role implements and supports actions that bring about improvements across safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, cycle time, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

What Will You Do?

  • Implement tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision.
  • Execute against long‑ and short‑term objectives to support the plant’s KPIs and goals.
  • Work with site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process‑related obstacles.
  • Assist in adjusting systems/processes as required to support lean initiatives.
  • Utilize value‑stream mapping techniques to design optimal information, material, and flow methodology.
  • Support engineered labor standards development and maintenance.

Act As a Change Agent to Bring Improvements to the Overall Plant Through Active Support, Facilitation and Leadership of Kaizen Events

  • Coach and follow up on pre‑work and post‑work standards.
  • Participate in co‑facilitating or facilitating events, projects, and “just do it” actions.
  • Participate in Gemba walks and coach employees on continuous improvement tools.
  • Help update and maintain visual performance tools, including tier boards.
  • Create and implement standard work while teaching and coaching leaders to do the same.

Support Activities Needed to Incorporate Lean Transformation and Daily Management into the Plant Culture

  • Assist in identifying ongoing training needs.
  • Drive lean culture and behaviours through coaching employees and following the Legrand Way.
  • Perform the Legrand Way RADAR to identify focus areas for improvement in lean culture.
  • Coach and advocate for the Legrand Values to all employees.

Track Improvements Made to Provide Assurance that Changes are Effective and Sustainable

  • Audit the areas after improvements are implemented.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics.
  • Continuously update labor standards and adjust spans.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Three to five years of experience supporting Lean/CI activities in an industrial manufacturing or engineer‑to‑order manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a world‑class lean environment is preferred.
  • Operations or engineering background is preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineered labor standards using a predetermined motion‑time system is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field (equivalent education/experience will be considered).
  • Knowledge of basic lean concepts and continuous improvement tools.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to facilitate activities and discussions using a defined process.
  • Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to create standard‑work documents.

Computer Skills:

  • Strong capability with personal computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • May occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas, where personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection is required.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 25 lb.
