As our Family Support Worker, you will be the driving force behind our commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. You will work closely with pupils, families, staff, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and promote positive wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding Leadership – Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), managing concerns, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring statutory compliance.
  • Family Support – Building strong relationships with families, supporting early help, signposting services, and coordinating multi‑agency support.
  • Pastoral Care – Leading or supporting interventions that support emotional regulation, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Work With Vulnerable Pupils – Providing tailored support for children experiencing trauma, social difficulties, or safeguarding risks.
  • Attendance and Behaviour Support – Monitoring patterns, implementing early interventions, and working with families to improve outcomes.
  • Staff Training – Delivering CPD on safeguarding, behaviour, and wellbeing.

About You

  • Experienced in safeguarding with up‑to‑date knowledge of KCSIE and statutory guidance.
  • Emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure, and able to build trust with children and families.
  • Skilled in multi‑agency working, including Early Help, social care, and health services.
  • Neutral, open and able to develop positive relationships with all members of staff, children, parents & carers.
  • Confident (or willing to learn) in leading interventions that support behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing.
  • Committed to inclusion, equality, and nurturing the whole child.
  • Knowledgeable about child development and SEND.
