About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional and strategic SENDCO to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead our provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape inclusive practice, drive whole-school improvement, and ensure every pupil is supported to thrive—academically, socially and emotionally.

Working closely with the Headteacher, you will provide both strategic direction and operational leadership across SEND, mental health, and inclusion, while maintaining a strong teaching presence within the school.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide strategic leadership for SEND across the school
  • Lead and develop a whole-school mental health and wellbeing strategy
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory frameworks including the SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act 2010
  • Oversee EHCP processes, provision mapping, and intervention impact
  • Lead multi-agency collaboration with external professionals
  • Manage Local Authority consultations and admissions processes
  • Oversee exam access arrangements in line with JCQ regulations
  • Line manage key staff including pastoral and intervention teams
  • Contribute fully to Senior Leadership Team priorities and school improvement planning

What We’re Looking For

  • Has significant experience working with a wide range of SEND needs
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
  • Has experience leading or contributing to whole-school improvement
  • Is confident using data to evaluate impact and inform strategy
  • Can lead, influence and support staff to deliver high-quality inclusive teaching
  • Has excellent communication skills and can build strong partnerships with families and external agencies
  • SENDCO qualification (NPQ SENDCO) or willingness to complete is essential.
