Site Services Engineer – Manchester Airport, UK
Reporting to the MAG Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced security screening equipment, including X‑ray and CT systems at one of our key customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on security screening systems to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
- Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, repair and maintain complex X‑ray and CT‑based security systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and system interface issues.
- Support system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
- Provide technical support directly to airport operational teams and stakeholders.
- Respond to customer enquiries, service requests and technical issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication.
- Advise customers on equipment capabilities, operational best practices and approved system modifications.
- Deliver formal and informal operator and maintenance training to customer personnel.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports and administrative documentation using Salesforce or equivalent system.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers and other UK customer sites as required.
- Participate in shift patterns, out‑of‑hours support and on‑call rotations as required.
About You – Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Technical qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent military/industry training.
- Proven experience within a field service or site‑based engineering environment.
- Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills across electrical, electronic, mechanical and software‑based systems.
- Experience working with complex technical equipment in a customer‑facing environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Security screening, security detection or baggage handling systems.
- X‑ray and CT technologies.
- Aviation or airport operations.
- Experience within a global or multi‑site organisation.
- Linux operating systems and networking knowledge.
Physical & Operational Requirements
- Ability to lift and manually handle tools, test equipment, spare parts and system components up to 16 kg unaided.
- Frequent walking across large airport facilities, including terminals and secure operational areas.
- Extended periods of standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and performing detailed technical work.
- Work in restricted access areas, equipment rooms, service pits, raised platforms and other operational environments.
- Work independently and safely during out‑of‑hours maintenance activities.
Travel & Flexibility
- Based at Manchester Airport with occasional travel to other UK customer sites.
- Travel across the UK on short notice when required.
- Work non‑standard hours, weekends, public holidays and participate in on‑call rotations.
- Occasional overnight stays may be required.
- Travel requirement: up to 20 %.
Eligibility Requirements
- Eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and relevant airside passes.
- Minimum of five years of checkable employment history.
- Live within a reasonable commuting distance of Manchester Airport.
Pay Range
£34,800.00 – £43,500.00 (general guideline).
