Senior Estimating Manager – London
Supporting the delivery of major infrastructure programmes across the water sector, this role will play a key part in shaping robust, data-driven cost strategies for projects including pumping stations, water and wastewater networks, and associated infrastructure.
You’ll Be Responsible For
- Managing estimating and cost planning activities across utilities projects, including pumping stations and water infrastructure schemes.
- Developing and refining cost plans from concept through to detailed design, ensuring alignment with programme objectives.
- Providing specialist cost advice, supported by benchmarking, industry data and first-principles estimating.
- Identifying key cost drivers and proactively influencing design to achieve value for money outcomes.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including design, construction and supply chain partners.
- Managing change control, value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Applying quantitative risk analysis, including three-point estimating techniques.
- Producing clear, structured reports with defined assumptions, risks and controls.
You’ll Need To Have
- Proven experience delivering estimating and cost planning on major utilities or infrastructure projects, ideally within the water sector.
- Experience working on pumping stations, water/wastewater treatment or network infrastructure.
- Strong cost analysis capability, including benchmarking and first principles estimating.
- Demonstrated ability to work with design teams to influence cost-effective, buildable solutions.
- Experience producing reliable estimates from limited or evolving design information.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior stakeholders.
- A degree in quantity surveying or a related discipline; RICS, CIOB or ICE membership preferred.
