Salary: up to £35,000 depending on experience

Polytec are looking for a hands‑on Warehouse Supervisor to join our Saffron Walden based client. You will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations while leading a small team. The position combines operational delivery with team coordination, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and high service levels across stock handling and dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support daily warehouse activities, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Allocate and prioritise workload across goods receipt, picking, packing and dispatch
  • Act as a hands‑on team leader, setting standards through example
  • Maintain an organised, safe and efficient working environment
  • Manage incoming deliveries including unloading, checking and system booking
  • Verify documentation and escalate discrepancies
  • Ensure correct labelling and storage of stock
  • Accurately pick materials for production and customer orders
  • Pack and dispatch orders in line with required service levels
  • Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Support full stock takes and identify improvements to reduce errors
  • Assist with incoming goods inspection where required
  • Accurately record all stock movements within warehouse systems/ERP
  • Contribute to process improvements and reporting accuracy

Requirements

  • Experience in a warehouse supervisory role or a senior operative ready to step up
  • Strong understanding of warehouse processes (goods‑in, picking, packing, dispatch, inventory control)
  • Experience maintaining stock accuracy and resolving discrepancies
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a small team effectively
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to work in a hands‑on operational role
  • Basic IT skills including ERP/WMS systems and Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Process‑oriented with a focus on continuous improvement

Desirable

  • Exposure to quality inspection processes or working with quality teams
  • Experience using manual handling equipment (Electric pallet stackers etc.)
  • Familiarity with performance metrics such as accuracy and delivery performance
  • Full UK driving licence
