About The Role
As a Line Technician, you’ll keep the line running like clockwork. It’s a hands‑on, operations and technical role; you’ll have your own area of responsibility but can apply your skills across the factory. You’ll be the line technician lead on the line with support and coaching from the Mantech within the cell. The environment is state‑of‑the‑art, clean and in a leading blue‑chip company we offer excellent career development opportunities.
Working Hours
You’ll be contracted to an average of 39 hours per week. We have a flex‑4 contract that includes the possibility of working four different shift patterns. The 3‑shift and continental shift patterns (four on, four off) are the most predominant on site. We’ll always try to work with you to give you the shift pattern most suitable, but that isn’t always feasible and depends on business needs.
Your responsibilities
- Ensuring the line hits its hourly volume/OEE and waste targets
- Setting the line up vs standard settings to maximise performance in a fast-paced and high-pressure manufacturing environment
- Being the first response to any breakdowns or set-up issues on your line; utilising root‑cause problem-solving skills and implementing fixes in a time‑conscious manner
- Maintaining plant and machinery to a very high standard through PPM
- Taking the lead on troubleshooting
- Proactively finding ways to improve line performance utilising key skills in innovation and teamwork
- Supporting condition-based maintenance (CBM) to minimise impact to service
- Working with and understanding the production/daily management systems (defect tagging, CIL, BDE, centre lining etc)
- Owning improvement/reactive actions on the line
The experience we’re looking for
- You hold a Level 2 engineering or maintenance qualification
- You have a strong mechanical aptitude and thrive in a fast-paced FMCG environment
- You can troubleshoot and repair sophisticated machinery (such as electrical, pneumatic or mechanical systems)
- You can respond urgently to immediate problems but are disciplined enough to plan routine tasks, future improvements and preventative maintenance
- You are an effective communicator, who can both influence and keep others well informed
- You like to innovate and challenge the status quo
