Who We Are Supporting

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and IT services to NATO’s member countries and partners. Established in 2012 and headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: manages NATO’s IT infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

The program

Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS) – The NCI Agency is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider, maintaining and defending the NATO enterprise-wide IT infrastructure.

The NCI Agency workforce consists of NATO International Civilians (NIC), Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC). The IWC’s make up approximately 15% of the total workforce.

Role Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage VMware vCenter & ESXi servers
  • Manage Windows Servers, AD, DNS, DHCP
  • Basic maintenance of Switches and Firewalls
  • Maintain Infodas SGWX diode
  • Maintain GPS Time Server
  • Install and maintain multiple server and client software applications
  • Maintain bespoke server application TEPA and its database
  • Maintain SofttrosLanManager messaging
  • Renew certificates
  • Manage VIASAT encrypted drives
  • Load Keymat to TCE621M devices
  • Escort and assist 3rd level engineers
  • Assist with testing and verification of new systems
  • Assist with VEEAM backup
  • Support local ServiceDesk
  • Maintain documentation on assigned systems
  • Support VDI maintenance, and thin clients
  • Print server support
  • Assist with EPO DLP
  • Install Sharepoint and SQL server patches

Essential Skills, Experience and Certifications

  • Vocational training at middle level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent, or Diploma of secondary education in IT System Administration with 5 years of experience.
  • Extensive Windows Server Administration experience
  • Intermediate network maintenance and configuration experience
  • Advanced workstation system administration experience
  • Significant IT Service Desk Support experience
  • Experience working on multiple IT systems simultaneously in a fast‑moving dynamic environment, reacting quickly to user needs.

Desirable Skills, Experience and Certifications

  • Knowledge of NATO IT Security Policies, Directives & Guidance
  • Prior experience in an international environment combining military and civilian elements
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization
  • ITIL v3 Foundation
  • Specific experience with TCE621, VIASAT drives, VEEAM Backup, Infodas SGWX, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VMware vCenter, DELL Switches, Trellix EPO, SQL Server, Sharepoint Server, SoftrosLanManager, PKI certificate renewal process, Horizon View.
