Main duties of the job
The Domestic Team Leader ensures the delivery of a full cleaning service within NHS Property Services premises in accordance with the NHS Domestic Services Operative Manual, at prescribed times, in line with policies and procedures, and as detailed in the cleaning work schedules, through the provision of management and supervision to the cleaning team.
Job responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate domestic services to ensure a high‑quality, safe and compliant cleaning service across NHS Property Services sites.
- Manage staff, rotas, training and performance.
- Complete audits and inspections, maintaining health and safety and cleaning standards.
- Oversee stock and equipment; act as a key point of contact for service users.
- Support effective service delivery, manage resources, and cover cleaning shifts when required.
- Complete routine tasks and follow workplace procedures effectively.
Key responsibilities and experience
- Demonstrable experience of managing/supervising domestic services colleagues.
- Experience of managing customer complaints.
- Experience of managing consumables/stock levels.
- Experience of risk management, conducting cleaning audits and making judgements on compliance.
Qualifications
- City and Guilds Level 3 Cleaning and Support Services or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification or willingness to work towards.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role you should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of health & safety requirements, NHS National Specification of Cleaning Standards, COSHH and NHS Property Services policies.
- Excellent organisational and people management skills.
- Ability to train, motivate and develop cleaning staff.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean environment for patient care.
Job details
- Location: Ashfield Health and Wellbeing Centre – Kirkby in Ashfield. Coverage includes Mansfield, Newark, Hucknall, Ilkeston and Edwinstowe.
- Salary: £28,393 per annum (approximately £14.52 per hour).
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm, 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility required for AM, PM, and split shifts.
- DBS check will be conducted; training will be provided. Full manual driving licence required.
