Role Description:
This temporary Healthcare Assistant role is based within a care home in Whitehaven. The role involves supporting residents with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, mobility, and assistance with meals, while always maintaining dignity and respect. Responsibilities include monitoring wellbeing, recording observations, and reporting changes to senior staff, while following individual care plans to deliver safe, person-centred support. You will also assist with safe moving and handling, maintain a clean and safe environment, and follow infection control, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures, working closely with the care home team to ensure quality care and comfort for residents.
Main Duties:
- Follow individual care plans and support residents’ specific needs.
- Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Promote residents’ dignity, independence, and overall wellbeing at all times.
- Monitor residents’ conditions and report any changes or concerns appropriately.
- Carry out safe moving and handling in line with training and care plans.
- Provide practical support such as making beds, serving meals, and assisting with laundry.
- Support residents with daily activities and offer companionship to enhance quality of life.
Skills and Experience Required:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience working in a care home, nursing home, hospital, or domiciliary care setting.
- Demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and professional approach to care.
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Be reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering high standards of care.
- Hold NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care (desirable but not essential).
- Have medication administration and moving & handling training (advantageous).
