Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients
Bournemouth Hospital | Nursing | Bank | Part Time
Salary: Up to £15 per hour depending on experience
Shift times: Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturdays 8am to 4pm
We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to support our Outpatients team. The role involves phlebotomy, specimen collection, ECG, basic clinical observations, chaperoning and assistance during clinics and minor procedures. You will also collect medical records, prepare paperwork for patient admissions and support team members.
Essential qualifications: NVQ 2 or 3, experience in an acute hospital setting, ability to work independently, excellent verbal and written communication skills, IT literacy. Phlebotomy experience is an advantage but not essential.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist colleagues across Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, Plastics Surgery, ENT, Cardiology, GP Services, Psychiatry and Physiotherapy.
- Provide individual patient care.
- Manage a wide range of activities and shifting priorities.
- Ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations of clinics.
- Assist consultants and nurses with dressings and wound care procedures.
- Carry out pre‑assessment, both face‑to‑face and over the phone.
