About the role
As a Resort Safety Officer you will be the friendly, visible presence that helps keep Cleethorpes safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Patrol Cleethorpes beach, seafront and resort areas, providing reassurance and a highly visible frontline service
- Offer advice and information to visitors and residents on safe use of the beach, tides, local restrictions and environmental protection
- Monitor the resort through patrols and CCTV, responding to emerging risks such as weather, tides or crowd levels
- Operate the First Aid Post and administer first aid when required, including responding to incidents involving children and vulnerable adults
- Work closely with partners such as the RNLI, HM Coastguard and internal council teams to support public safety
- Help lost children, support visitors and assist during incidents or emergencies
- Protect Cleethorpes’ natural environment, including the SSSI, by observing and reporting environmental concerns
- Report anti‑social behaviour, safety hazards, maintenance issues or unauthorised trading activity to the appropriate teams
Who we are looking for
Approachable, confident and community‑minded individuals who enjoy working outdoors and engaging positively with the public. A frontline, customer‑facing background and the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally are required. Clear communication in accurate spoken English, independence, flexibility (including lone working) and a strong awareness of health and safety and public service values are essential. Willingness to work in all weather conditions across different resort areas is required.
Requirements
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent)
- Full valid UK driving licence
- Willingness to work a 7‑day rota, including weekends and evenings
- Ability to pass a standard DBS check
First aid and beach or environmental knowledge are desirable; full training and support will be provided.
Working Pattern
Rota based, including weekends and bank holidays. Post is annualised with 32 hours in winter (1 October to 31 March) and 42 hours in summer (1 April to 30 September).
