Responsibilities
- Targeted Interventions: Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group sessions focused on emotional literacy, resilience, and self‑esteem.
- De‑escalation Support: Implement positive behaviour strategies and trauma‑informed approaches to diffuse challenging moments and create a safe environment.
- Academic Mentoring: Help students access a differentiated secondary curriculum, breaking down tasks to reduce frustration and anxiety.
- Progress Tracking: Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour logs, providing vital feedback to class teachers and parents.
Qualifications
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a relevant equivalent (e.g., a degree in Psychology, Youth & Community Work, or specialised Health and Social Care qualifications).
- Experience: Proven track record supporting young people with complex SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, or trauma‑related behaviours within a school, Alternative Provision (AP), Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), or residential care setting.
- Traits: Thick‑skinned, endlessly patient, and equipped with a brilliant sense of humour, looking past disruptive behaviour to see the child needing support.
- Vetting: Must hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
