Principal Ports Engineer – Gas & Liquid Products
Scope: The Principal Ports Engineer will join the Ports Team, leading the structural design of marine facilities for gas and liquid product terminals, supporting early career professionals, and contributing to business development activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies for the marine facilities of new gas or liquid product terminals.
- Prepare and present technical reports and other technical material to clients and stakeholders.
- Lead the structural design delivery of marine jetties for gas and liquid products, supporting others in engineering calculations, drawings, and specification documents.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate jetty structures with topside process and other terminal equipment.
- Support constructability assessments and prepare construction sequences.
- Lead the preparation of the technical volume of tender documents.
- Review and approve contractor designs for quality and compliance with project specifications.
- Support early career professionals in developing skills related to gas and liquid product terminal design.
- Participate and represent Mott MacDonald in industry events and technical fora.
- Assist the team in business development and client engagement activities as required.
Candidate Specification
- Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered or near chartership with a relevant professional institution (or equivalent).
- Ability to deliver complex projects from concept through execution within set deadlines and budgets.
- Proven experience in structural design calculations for jetty structures and leading others.
- Strong knowledge of design standards and guidelines (API, AISC, OCIMF, BS 6349, Eurocode, PIANC, etc.).
- Experience and proficiency with structural design software and integration with CAD.
- Strong communication, teamwork, problem‑solving skills and a drive to innovate.
Work Pattern
Part time, job share or full time. Willingness to travel overseas for project assignments.
