This role provides an opportunity to work on highly secure enterprise AI, semantic search and knowledge retrieval programmes whilst building specialist expertise within enterprise search and AI-driven retrieval platforms.
Role Overview
We are hiring Enhanced DV Cleared AI Search & Retrieval Engineers to support secure GenAI, Enterprise Search and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) programmes.
This role is ideal for Data Engineers, Platform Engineers, Search Engineers, Software Engineers or Analytics Engineers looking to transition into enterprise AI search, semantic retrieval and modern search platform engineering.
The focus of the role is preparing, onboarding, indexing and enriching enterprise data for secure AI-enabled search, semantic retrieval and knowledge discovery applications.
You are not expected to be an Elastic expert from day one. We are interested in transferable experience from technologies such as OpenSearch, Solr, Splunk, Kafka, Cribl, Datadog, Grafana, SQL NoSQL platforms, vector databases or similar data engineering and search technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ingest and onboard structured, semi-structured and unstructured enterprise data
- Configure ingestion pipelines for parsing, filtering, normalisation and enrichment
- Support indexing, metadata preparation and document processing workflows
- Assist with chunking, retrieval and search optimisation for AI-enabled applications
- Troubleshoot ingestion failures, parsing issues and data quality gaps
- Support dashboards, reporting and operational search visibility
- Maintain onboarding documentation and operational runbooks
- Work with search, data, AI and platform engineering teams across secure programmes
Core Skills & Experience

- APIs, Databases or Document Processing
- JSON, XML, CSV, Syslog or unstructured data formats
- Kafka, Logstash, Cribl or ingestion tooling
- SQL or NoSQL technologies
- Linux, Cloud or Infrastructure environments
- Bash, Python or PowerShell scripting
- Search, indexing or metadata concepts
- GenAI, Semantic Search or RAG awareness
