Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter / Decorator to join our team, bringing creativity and craftsmanship to create visually appealing and long-lasting finishes for residential, commercial, and industrial spaces. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and protect surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks and holes, and applying primers and undercoats as necessary.
  • Apply high-quality finishes including painting, decorative techniques, wallpapering, and other surface treatments.
  • Accurately measure surfaces to calculate the appropriate amount of materials required.
  • Select and mix paint or other materials, such as stains and varnishes, ensuring accurate colour matching and consistency.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring safety compliance at all times.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently, adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to bring their design visions to life while offering expert advice on finishes, colours, and techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace during and after projects.
  • Stay informed about new techniques, products, and trends within the painting and decorating field.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Painter / Decorator with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Proficiency in painting techniques, surface preparation, and decorative finishing methods.
  • Ability to measure and calculate material requirements expertly.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in all aspects of work.
  • Adept at identifying and repairing defects or imperfections in surfaces.
  • Skilled in sanding, filling, and prepping surfaces for painting.
  • Possession of own tools required for painting and decorating tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and team members.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines relating to painting and decorating practices.
  • Flexibility to work in various environments and adapt to unique client needs.

Day-to-Day

  • Assess and plan for daily tasks and material needs before beginning projects.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and patching any holes or cracks.
  • Arrange for the protection of surrounding furniture and flooring using tarps, tape, and drop cloths.
  • Execute painting techniques, decorative finishes, or wallpapering as specified in the project plans.
  • Clean and maintain tools and workspace at the end of each project or workday.
  • Communicate progress to clients and address any feedback or concerns.
  • Adhere to workplace safety standards and ensure a hazard‑free environment.
  • Contribute to a welcoming workplace culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The basic shift is 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday!

The basic pay is £16/h (PAYE).
