Salary £36,363 – £40,777 per annum | 37 hours per week | Fixed-Term until 31st March 2030 | Full-time | Peatland Project Officer
Overview
Are you an experienced and motivated peatland practitioner looking to be involved in an ambitious scheme of survey and delivery works in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (AONB) over the coming years? In partnership with landowners, NGOs, regulators and the local authority we are about to embark on a programme of survey and delivery works across the area. This is a hands‑on role combining frequent fieldwork with planning, coordination, and technical input to ensure effective, resilient restoration outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design, delivery, and monitoring of restoration interventions, and support and supervise junior colleagues in the field.
- Translate site assessments into practical work packages, oversee implementation on the ground, and ensure compliance with environmental standards and funding requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits across varied and sometimes challenging terrain, alongside office‑based planning, reporting, and data management.
- Contribute to project design, risk assessments, procurement, and adaptive management based on monitoring results.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with substantial peatland restoration experience, strong ecological and hydrological understanding, and proven project delivery skills. Confidence working outdoors, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
