Overview

Safran Helicopter Engines, the world’s leading rotorcraft turbine manufacturer, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer (NPI) to join our Fareham site. The role focuses on transitioning new and modified products from design through to production, ensuring manufacturability, quality, and configuration control.

Your Role

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer is responsible for:

  1. Industrialisation of Design Changes – Evaluate and implement design changes to improve manufacturability and performance; develop and document manufacturing processes, work instructions, and quality assurance protocols; coordinate cross‑departmental input to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
  2. New Product Introduction – Lead the transition of new products from design to production; develop detailed project plans with risk assessments, resources, timelines, and budgets; oversee prototype builds, pilot runs and full‑scale production ramp‑up.
  3. Configuration Control – Establish and manage configuration control processes; maintain documentation and records relating to product designs and manufacturing changes; ensure stakeholders are informed of changes.
  4. Stakeholder Liaison – Work with commercial, purchasing and operations teams to align product specifications, select materials and integrate new products efficiently.
  5. Continuous Improvement – Analyse processes, identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement, and implement data‑driven optimisations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of product engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or a similarly regulated sector.
  • Experience with configuration management and documentation systems.
  • Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Additional desirable experience: APQP, PPAP industrialisation, lean manufacturing principles, knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements.
