Senior Scientist – Ecotoxicology

Ecotoxicologist

Position: Ecotoxicologist in the Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice. Work based in Harrogate (UK), Nottingham (UK), London (UK), Dublin (IE), Mannheim (DE), or Basel (CH); home working considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental risk assessments for plant protection products as required by EU legislation (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009).
• Provide advice to clients on plant protection product ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment issues.
• Summarise and interpret data, including study reports and published literature in ecotoxicology, drawing sound scientific and regulatory conclusions.
• Perform data gap analysis, develop testing strategies, and monitor ecotoxicology studies.
• Provide verbal and written inputs to multi‑disciplinary project teams; contribute high‑level strategic advice and high‑quality outputs.

Qualifications & Skills

• MSc. degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., biology, environmental science).
• Experience completing environmental risk assessments under EU plant protection product legislation (e.g., Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009), with relevant field experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Sound judgement and decision‑making ability.
• Good numeracy skills.
