About The Role

Principal Lift Engineer – a fixed‑term (2 years) contract delivering improvements to the Greenwich and Woolwich Foot Tunnels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare engineering drawings and project programmes.
  • Act as Client or Principal Designer on relevant elements.
  • Procure contractors and consultants.
  • Prepare health and safety information.
  • Manage finances and complete project management documentation.
  • Manage consultancy and contracting staff.
  • Work closely with Highways, Regeneration, Repairs and Investment officers and other strategic members of the division.

The postholder reports to the Public Realm Infrastructure Manager and collaborates on joint projects and matrix management approaches.

About You

We’re looking for a candidate with:

  • Strong engineering knowledge related to lifts.
  • Project and contract management experience.
  • Team‑player attitude with energy, openness and a commitment to fairness.
  • Understanding of local government governance and processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to use data for evidence and improvement.
