Open to all of the UK – 20 % travel per month (80 % WFH).

We’re hiring a Principal Process Safety Consultant for a leading global sustainability and engineering consultancy with an established, high‑performing Process Safety practice delivering complex COMAH and high‑hazard projects across the UK and internationally.

The role is senior and client‑facing (Business Development). You will have real autonomy, leading project delivery, shaping new service offerings, and working hands‑on with clients across some of the UK’s most technically demanding high‑hazard sectors, including chemical manufacturing, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, explosives and onshore bulk storage.

Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Shape and develop new service offerings in process safety.
• Work hands‑on with clients on high‑hazard projects.
• Maintain commercial awareness and manage client relationships at site and senior management level.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (or actively working towards chartership) with a degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• Deep technical expertise in COMAH legislation, process safety regulation and recognised good practice.
• Proven ability to lead HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA studies and hazard identification programmes.
• Strong process plant design knowledge – vessels, tanks, pipework, structures and as‑built documentation.
• Experience conducting audits and authoritative reviews of operational practices against documented procedures.
• Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects across multidisciplinary teams.
• Bonus: direct experience of COMAH regulation and/or international high‑hazard project delivery.
