Position Overview
We are delighted to recruit a Microbiology Quality Manager to work within the Clinical Microbiology department of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern site). The department provides comprehensive microbiology services to the Trust and the local population across Northern and Eastern Devon, employing approximately 80 staff across two laboratories located at North Devon District Hospital and Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop the Quality Management System (QMS), including document control.
- Design and implement audit programmes and ensure staff compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Lead risk management, oversee the investigation of incidents and non‑conformances, and ensure root cause analysis informs corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive a culture of continuous quality improvement, supporting service development aligned to Pathology redesign objectives.
- Provide governance oversight, ensuring that regulatory requirements are consistently met and that the service remains inspection‑ready.
Working Pattern
The current RDUH Laboratory opening hours are 8am to 6pm Monday‑Friday (core hours 09:00‑17:30). The role is 37.5 hours per week and may include working on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis where required.
