Community Care Solicitor

Location: Stratford, East London

Salary: From £47,000

About the Role

Our client, a highly regarded Legal 500 practice, is seeking a Community Care Solicitor to join its established team in East London. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with experience in Community Care and Public Law to join a growing department recognised for representing vulnerable individuals in complex and often life-changing matters. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload and work alongside experienced practitioners in a supportive and collaborative environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of Community Care matters from inception through to conclusion.
  • Advising clients on local authority duties and obligations under community care legislation.
  • Representing clients in matters relating to care assessments, care packages, support services and social care provision.
  • Preparing applications, witness statements, pleadings and correspondence.
  • Conducting Legal Aid-funded work in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with local authorities, healthcare professionals, advocates and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with Judicial Review proceedings and related Public Law matters where appropriate.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of client care and file management.

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or equivalent legal professional.
  • Experience handling Community Care and/or Public Law matters.
  • Experience working within a Legal Aid environment.Strong drafting, advocacy and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication and client care abilities.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision.

Desirable

  • Experience of Judicial Review proceedings.
  • Knowledge of Housing, Court of Protection or wider Public Law matters.
  • Experience representing vulnerable clients.
  • Existing referral relationships within the sector.
