About the Role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Communications Business Unit, focused on defence and secure communications.
This is a relationship-led, end-user-focused role where success comes from understanding real operational challenges and delivering solutions that work in the field — not just on paper.
You’ll work closely with defence customers, government stakeholders, and specialist partners to deliver MANET and tactical communication solutions that support mission success.
This role is particularly suited to individuals with military, defence, or security backgrounds who understand operational realities and can engage credibly with end users.
What you will be doing
- Developing long-term relationships with defence and government customers
- Understanding end-user operational needs and translating them into solutions
- Supporting field trials, demonstrations, and operational exercises
- Visiting customer and partner locations across the UK and beyond
- Identifying and developing strategic defence opportunities
- Using a consultative, solutions-based sales approach
- Supporting technical demonstrations, tradeshows, and defence events
- Building strong knowledge of Wave Relay® and Steatite solutions
- Working collaboratively with technical and engineering teams

- Transitioning from the military into a commercial role
- A technically minded professional with defence sector exposure

Key Skills & Experience
- Business development or strong commercial capability
- Understanding of defence or government sales cycles
- Familiarity with UK MoD structures and procurement
- Experience working with end users in operational environmentsCollaborative working style
- Awareness of MANET or wireless communications (desirable)
- Networking, IP, or RF knowledge
- Defence, intelligence, or secure communications experience
- Eligibility for UK Government Security Clearance (DV preferred)
