Quality Manager – Birmingham, AL

Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing client in the Birmingham area who is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead site quality systems, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring product quality, maintaining strong customer satisfaction, and driving a culture of continuous improvement across a fast-paced production environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position with full responsibility for the site quality function. You will work closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to strengthen quality systems, reduce defects, and implement a proactive, prevention-focused quality strategy.

The business is focused on operational excellence and is looking for a leader who can combine technical quality expertise with strong team leadership and cross-functional influence.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the site Quality function and quality team
  • Owning and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO standards and customer-specific requirements
  • Managing internal and external audits
  • Leading root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Driving reduction in scrap, defects, and customer complaints
  • Partnering with production, engineering, and maintenance teams
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives related to quality performance
  • Acting as primary contact for customer quality issues and escalations
  • Developing, coaching, and mentoring quality staff

Requirements:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in quality or manufacturing quality leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality systems
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, metals, industrial, or high-volume manufacturing preferred
  • Proven experience leading audits and corrective action systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Experience managing teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification is a plus
