We are now seeking an Assistant Estimator to support our Estimating and Pre-Construction team to help ensure estimates are accurate and submitted on time. This is a great opportunity for someone to learn, grow and develop within a high performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Preparation: Support senior estimators in compiling and submitting cost estimates and bid documents.
- Take-offs & Measurement: Review drawings and specifications to measure quantities accurately.
- Supply Chain: Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors, chase returns, and analyse received quotations.
- Cost Analysis: Help identify project risks, opportunities, and potential value engineering options.
- Meetings & Handovers: Attend design meetings and site visits as required and support the internal handover of secured projects to the operational and commercial teams.
Requirements
- Experience working with estimating software (Conquest or similar) and measuring software is preferred but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in what can be a fast-paced environment
- Education: Degree in a construction/commercial related discipline is desirable but not essential.
- Experience: Previous experience or time spent in a site environment, within a trades background, or in a junior commercial role.
- Skills: Strong numerical ability, high attention to detail, and proficiency with software like Microsoft Excel and specialized take-off programs.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and the drive to meet tight bid deadlines
- Good communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders

- Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 3:30pm on Friday
- Role is primarily office-based in Wigan
- Travel across the North West is required as part of the role
- Regular travel to projects in Manchester and Leeds will form part of the role
