Location: Aston, Birmingham

Salary: £33,000 + DOE, monthly bonus scheme.

Shift Pattern: 4 x 12‑hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off). Rotational pattern covering a 24/7 operation.

Job Overview

We are a UK manufacturer in the metals and engineering sector seeking a Foundry Casting Operative to join our production team. The role ensures safe and efficient operation of continuous horizontal casting lines supplying precision‑engineered copper alloy products.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing heats in line with various copper alloy specifications
• Operating and maintaining furnaces: melting, skimming, testing metal, alloy adjustments, cleaning and maintenance duties
• General housekeeping within the casting area
• Inspecting cast strip quality and unloading cast coils
• Recording and booking coils using basic computer systems
• Completing production and equipment reports, including FLT documentation
• Reporting operational issues to supervisors and team leaders

Key Skills

• Strong commitment to Health & Safety and safe working practices
• Physically capable of heavy lifting in a foundry and industrial environment
• Flexible and reliable shift worker
• Previous foundry, casting, furnace or manufacturing experience advantageous, but full training provided
• FLT licence experience highly desirable
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing team
• Good attention to detail and quality inspection skills
• Technical instruction following and production procedure compliance
• Good communication and issue reporting skills

Structured training programme provided and tailored to the successful applicant’s experience and development needs. Open to people outside the industry.
