Mental Health Support Assistant – School Setting (Corby Area)
Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Help students develop emotional regulation, confidence, resilience and positive coping strategies.
- Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to encourage engagement with learning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent source of support.
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, pastoral teams and external agencies where required.
- Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and wellbeing interventions.
- Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive school environment.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, youth work, care, support work or mental health settings.
- Genuine passion for supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and development.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Patience, empathy and resilience when supporting students facing challenges.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Relevant qualifications or training are beneficial but not essential.
