About the role
Peer Support Worker at Oxford Health Buckinghamshire CAMHS. This part‑time role (30 hours per week) is based in the Sue Nicholls Centre, Aylesbury, with most work delivered in the community.
Key responsibilities
- Provide support to families of children and young people with moderate to severe learning disability, using lived experience to offer coping strategies and meaningful change.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary team in assessments, 1:1 family sessions and support groups, helping the wider system understand the young person’s full identity, including neurodivergence and mental health.
- Travel independently between sites within the Trust to deliver support in homes and specialised schools.
Qualifications & experience
- Personal lived experience of caring for a loved one with moderate to severe learning disability / intellectual disability.
- Experience navigating health, education and social care systems for children and young people with a learning disability (preferred).
- Ability to communicate compassionately with families, often in crisis contexts, supporting resilience and coping.
- Flexible working and ability to travel independently across the Trust.
