Job Description:

Windsor Forest Colleges group is looking for a Pastoral Support Tutor to join our Art and Design Department at the Berkshire College of Agriculture campus on a part‑time permanent basis.

Pastoral Support Tutor

This role is a 14.5 hour per week position on a 39‑week Term Time Only basis. Working days are Thursdays (08:30‑17:00 with an hour lunch) and Fridays (08:30‑16:30 with an hour lunch). The role is on Scale H of the Support Staff pay scale offering a salary between H19 £9,360.93 and H22 £10,288.31 per year (H19 £26,284 up to H22 £29,987 FTE).

The Pastoral Support Tutor for Art and Design is responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information, advice, guidance and support to students, parents and staff regarding academic performance, college procedures and financial welfare matters.
  • Leading group pastoral and personal development activities tailored to learner needs, and providing effective one‑to‑one tutoring and coaching to support study skills, academic achievement and overall well‑being.
  • Supporting the department’s cohort through individual tutorials, group sessions and assignment support and meeting regularly with assigned students to review conduct and academic progress.
  • Contributing to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) by setting milestones with students, teachers and parents, and generating timely data—including registers, student feedback and progress reports—to identify and monitor learners at risk of non‑achievement or withdrawal.
  • Maintaining daily liaison with teachers, Curriculum Managers and other staff to manage student attendance, retention, achievement and behaviour.
  • Partnering with Safeguarding and Learning Support teams to assist with PEP and EHCP meetings, providing extra support to vulnerable students such as Children in Care or those on Child Protection Plans, and being prepared to train and act as a safeguarding officer if required.
