Job title: Enablement Support WorkerLocation: The Council House, DerbyHours: 37 hours a week, including occasional evening and weekend workContract: PermanentSalary: £30,024 – £32,597 per year
Key Responsibilities
- Work with deaf adults to help them achieve personal goals, such as building confidence, budgeting, travelling independently, and developing safe cooking skills.
- Support individuals with learning disabilities, neurodiversity or mental health needs within the community and in their homes.
- Collaborate with mental health colleagues to support wellbeing and medication management.
- Work independently while attending regular team meetings, supervision and training sessions.
- Document support plans and daily activities in the person’s home and on electronic records.
- Adapt communication, including fluent British Sign Language, to meet the needs of those with limited language or communication skills.
- Follow support plans, rosters and instructions and cope with demanding and stressful situations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Excellent British Sign Language skills with the ability to adapt communication techniques.
- Experience working with deaf or deafblind adults who have varied support needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, remaining motivated and person-centred.
- Ability to cope with challenging behaviour and stressful situations.
- Commitment to providing a high‑quality, confidential service.
- Strong record‑keeping skills and evidence of following support plans.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the people supported.
