Structural Engineer – Structural Steelwork

Salary: £55,000–£75,000 + benefits package

With a strong pipeline of work and increasingly complex projects secured, this structural steel contractor is looking for a Structural Engineer who understands that good design is not just about calculations. It is about creating solutions that work in the real world.
You’ll work closely with architects, clients, detailers and project teams to develop practical, buildable designs that perform on paper and in the workshop.
What you’ll be doing
- Design structural steelwork solutions in line with British Standards and Eurocodes
- Produce structural calculations for steel frames, connections and associated structures
- Review architectural and engineering drawings to develop practical design solutions
- Collaborate with detailing, fabrication and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce cost
- Support fabrication and site teams with technical guidance during delivery
What they’re looking for
Must have:
- Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience delivering structural steelwork projects
- Strong understanding of steel design principles, fabrication and erection processes
- Ability to produce and review structural calculations
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software
- Knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes and UK construction regulations
Nice to have:
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership
- Experience working closely with detailing and fabrication teams
- Exposure to commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects
