Overview
Transactional Banking & Liabilities Lawyer (S3) based in London, within Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking. This role supports the Transactional Banking and Liabilities business, providing legal advice across cash management, payments and account products.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on transactional banking and liabilities products including accounts, cash management and payment services.
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, client documentation and product terms and conditions.
- Support product development, change initiatives and digital platform evolution.
- Advise on UK and EU payments regulation and financial crime frameworks.
- Identify, assess and raise legal and regulatory risks.
- Partner with stakeholders across product, risk, compliance, operations and technology.
- Deliver timely, pragmatic legal advice aligned with risk appetite.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement, including the use of legal technology and AI tools.
What you’ll bring
- Qualified lawyer with experience in banking, financial services or commercial contracts.
- Experience advising on transactional banking products, cash management or payments.
- Experience working with digital banking platforms or connectivity solutions.
- Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of payments regulation and financial crime frameworks.
- Understanding of legal risk management principles.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial mindset with ability to balance risk and business objectives.
- Proactive, adaptable and solutions‑focused approach.

Hybrid Working
Roles are site‑based with a hybrid pattern – colleagues are expected to attend the office at least 12 days per month (pro‑rata for part‑time roles).
