Overview

Transactional Banking & Liabilities Lawyer (S3) based in London, within Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking. This role supports the Transactional Banking and Liabilities business, providing legal advice across cash management, payments and account products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on transactional banking and liabilities products including accounts, cash management and payment services.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, client documentation and product terms and conditions.
  • Support product development, change initiatives and digital platform evolution.
  • Advise on UK and EU payments regulation and financial crime frameworks.
  • Identify, assess and raise legal and regulatory risks.
  • Partner with stakeholders across product, risk, compliance, operations and technology.
  • Deliver timely, pragmatic legal advice aligned with risk appetite.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement, including the use of legal technology and AI tools.

What you’ll bring

  • Qualified lawyer with experience in banking, financial services or commercial contracts.
  • Experience advising on transactional banking products, cash management or payments.
  • Experience working with digital banking platforms or connectivity solutions.
  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of payments regulation and financial crime frameworks.
  • Understanding of legal risk management principles.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Commercial mindset with ability to balance risk and business objectives.
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions‑focused approach.

Hybrid Working

Roles are site‑based with a hybrid pattern – colleagues are expected to attend the office at least 12 days per month (pro‑rata for part‑time roles).
