Overview

A leading residential developer is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the operational excellence of a Build to Rent (BTR) development. This key position requires a proactive, hands-on professional with strong technical knowledge and a passion for delivering high standards across the portfolio.

Location: Vauxhall; 3 days on site with site visits; London-based 2 days; Mon–Fri.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the maintenance and repair of all building services, ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and comfortable living environment for residents.
  • Taking a hands-on approach to resolving technical issues and ensuring building systems meet operational requirements.
  • Monitoring building performance proactively to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Leading the management of contractors and suppliers, ensuring services are delivered to a high standard and provide value for money.
  • Conducting routine site inspections and addressing maintenance issues before they escalate.
  • Collaborating closely with specialist contractors, maintenance coordinators, property management, and leasing teams to ensure a seamless resident experience.
  • Acting as an escalation point for facility-related resident concerns, resolving issues confidently and efficiently.
  • Supporting budget management by controlling costs and driving operational efficiencies.
  • Contributing to sustainability goals by improving energy efficiency and environmental performance across the development.
  • Managing and mentoring on-site facilities staff, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
  • Assisting with technical projects and lifecycle works as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in facilities management, ideally within the Build to Rent, PRS, or high-end residential sectors.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, maintenance procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • A recognised health & safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and suppliers effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
  • A resident-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering an exceptional living experience.
  • Flexibility to respond to out-of-hours issues when necessary.
