MUFG, the seventh largest financial group in the world, is seeking a Director for its EMEA Performance & Reward Advisory team based in London. This role offers the chance to lead strategic transformation initiatives and contribute to the ongoing evolution of global reward frameworks.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the EMEA Performance & Reward Advisory agenda by partnering with senior business and functional leadership on remuneration strategy, performance outcomes, organisational considerations, and workforce‑related matters.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Executive Management, HR leadership, and governance stakeholders on complex remuneration, regulatory compliance, and performance‑related issues throughout the region.
  • Support the Global Head of Regulatory Reward, Governance & Deferred Compensation as well as the EMEA Head of Performance & Reward in managing Remuneration Committee agendas, governance materials, and executive‑level reward discussions.
  • Drive consistency and effective decision‑making across EMEA reward activities while balancing commercial objectives with regulatory expectations and prudent risk management principles.
  • Support the delivery of strategic transformation initiatives related to reward frameworks, performance management systems, governance enhancements, and broader organisational priorities.
  • Represent the PRB function as a senior leader across EMEA and globally by maintaining strong partnerships with HR leadership teams, Business Partners, Control Functions, Remuneration Committee members, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of committee materials including executive papers and governance documentation relating to Performance & Reward matters.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends impacting reward structures as well as broader people strategy considerations.
  • Ensure governance processes operate effectively by coordinating across Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, HR, and all other relevant stakeholders on governance and remuneration matters.
  • Contribute to ongoing evolution of reward frameworks by supporting transformation programmes relating to deferred compensation schemes and broader PRB operating model enhancements.

What you bring

  • Extensive experience in global Reward Advisory roles within highly regulated financial services environments—particularly banking—across UK or broader EMEA regions.
  • Proven track record engaging with regulators (including internal audit) on Reward‑related matters such as managing Remuneration Committee agendas/content.
  • Leadership experience in regulatory reporting policy development/governance processes within complex matrixed organisations.
  • Background in global regulatory frameworks applied to Reward structures including design/development of policies/governance processes.
  • Deep understanding of financial services regulatory environment coupled with knowledge of all applicable regulations affecting remuneration strategies.
  • Ability/confidence advising senior stakeholders—including boards/committees—on compensation decisions while maintaining broad perspective alongside detailed involvement.
  • Expertise gathering compensation‑related market intelligence/interpreting labour market data for benchmarking/internal alignment/external competitiveness assessments.
  • In‑depth knowledge regarding various Reward philosophies/plans (salary/cost‑of‑living adjustment/merit increase/bonus structure/domestic/global workers/expatriates/executives/part‑time employees).
  • Experience implementing/tracking relevant Reward metrics/benchmarks (compa‑ratio etc.) alongside accounting/financial acumen.
  • Degree or equivalent work experience equally preferable.
