Overview

Barking Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Gastroenterology with a specialist interest in Hepatology to join its expanding team across Queen’s and King George Hospitals. The role will involve providing inpatient and outpatient services, supporting the emergency GI bleed rota, and contributing to the development of hepatology services within the Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services.
  • Support the emergency GI bleed rota.
  • Participate in the development of hepatology services, shaping benign hepatology pathways and developing community outreach services.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary team meetings with regional liver networks.
  • Work closely with surgical colleagues as part of the Digestive Diseases Centre (DDC) to develop a centre of excellence for digestive health.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including OGD, colonoscopy, EMR, colonic stenting, ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy, oesophageal pH studies, and manometry.
  • Contribute to JAG training courses and support training and career development opportunities for staff.

Qualifications

  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • CCT in Gastroenterology or attainment of CCT via ‘European Community Rights’.
  • Full registration with GMC.
  • MSC.
  • Higher research degree – MD Res / MD.
  • Experience of managing postgraduate training.
