Clinical Fellow – Psychiatry and Medical Education

Intensive Home Treatment TEAM – Royal Edinburgh Hospital

Applications are welcome for a 1‑year fixed term, full‑time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Edinburgh Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care within the Intensive Home Treatment TEAM, delivering evidence‑based psychiatric services.
  • Work 50:50 between clinical practice and undergraduate medical education, supporting medical students across Edinburgh, Mid and East Lothian.
  • Develop and deliver medical teaching, including small‑group tutorials, simulation training and bedside teaching sessions.
  • Implement strategies to improve student experience and increase capacity in the service.
  • Collaborate with the wider Medical Education Directorate on projects that enhance safe, effective, person‑centred clinical care.
  • Engage in quality improvement activities within Lothian and in partnership with the University of Edinburgh.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current medical registration and experience in psychiatry or related specialty.
  • Experience or interest in medical education and teaching.
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work a full‑time, 1‑year fixed‑term contract based at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
  • Post does not carry educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.
