Monzo is looking for a senior leader to join the Risk & Control team for a fixed-term period of 6 months. The role is based in London with the possibility of remote working within the UK.
Responsibilities
- Manage a programme of control effectiveness testing (design and operational effectiveness).
- Seek opportunities to automate testing through data analytics and AI.
- Provide advice on optimising the control suite to ensure Monzo grows safely and that risks are managed as expected.
- Consistently deliver improved monitoring of Monzo’s control performance.
- Lead on embedding improved, risk‑based controls monitoring and develop an optimal operating model for controls testing and monitoring.
- Lead a team of specialists to deliver on agreed control testing plans, report findings to stakeholders, and scope improvement activities.
- Use commercial awareness to identify and solve controls‑related problems with the greatest business impact.
- Collaborate with Risk Data and Platform teams to improve actionable insights from the team’s activities.
Qualifications
- Solid grounding in risk and control processes.
- Strategic leadership experience in improving adoption of technology and data solutions, including data analytics and AI.
- Experience leading a team of highly qualified specialists in assurance.
- Impact‑driven and eager to make a positive impact on the company, product, users, and colleagues.
- Commercially minded with the ability to put controls into a business perspective.
- Comfortable with both hands‑on delivery (testing, building automation solutions) and strategic thinking.
- Self‑starter mindset, proactively identifying issues and opportunities and tackling them independently.
- Team player who can build relationships with stakeholders across the three lines of defence.
Benefits
£85,000 – £115,000 (pro‑rata) + benefits. Flexible working hours with trust to work enough hours to do the job well at times that suit you and your team.
