Role Description
The Technician role at Keyteq is a full-time, on-site position based in Altrincham. The Technician will prepare, test, and maintain AV equipment, including displays, projectors, sound systems, and related hardware, ensuring all items are ready for hire and event deployment. Day-to-day responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, setting up and de-rigging AV systems at client sites, and providing technical support during events to ensure smooth operation. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues on-site or in the warehouse, performing basic repairs, and keeping accurate records of inventory, maintenance, and equipment usage. The Technician will collaborate closely with project managers, other technicians, and client teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality event solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in audio-visual equipment setup, operation, and basic fault-finding, ideally including experience with projectors, displays, switchers, and sound systems.
- Practical skills in equipment handling, cable management, and safe loading/unloading of gear, with an understanding of health and safety practices for live events.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a customer-focused approach when working with event organizers, venue staff, and colleagues.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability in following schedules, documenting equipment usage, and maintaining accurate records.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in line with event schedules.
- Previous experience in live events, AV, staging, or a related technical field is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided for candidates with strong aptitude.
- Full UK driving license is highly beneficial; the ability to drive larger vehicles (such as vans) is an advantage.
- Comfort with basic IT systems and software used for inventory management, scheduling, and communication.
