Cook – Tynedale House

Location: Tynedale House, Blyth. Permanent, part‑time 24.5 hours per week. Working 7‑hour shifts from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (1‑hour lunch break) on a 2‑week rota.

Employment type: Permanent. Salary: £13.26 per hour, equivalent to £25 583 – £25 989 FTE or £16 940 – £17 208 pro‑rata.

  • Rota: Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday; Week 2 – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Shift length: 7 h (with 1 h lunch break)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary requirements and quality standards for residents with learning disabilities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Use catering tools and equipment safely and correctly.
  • Prepare meals for specialised diets as required.

Requirements

  • Basic food hygiene certificate.
  • Knowledge of health and safety and training in manual handling.
  • Relevant experience in a kitchen environment, including food preparation and cooking.
  • Willingness to learn and handle specialised diet preparation.
