Electrician/ Electrical Maintenance Technician, Pharmaceutical

Official title: Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Location: Northamptonshire

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (including shift allowance)

Hours: Rotating AM/PM shifts (possible weekend working depending on shift)

Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electrician, Electrical Improver, Electrical Technician or electrically biased engineer who wants to move into a maintenance engineering role within a highly regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. You will join a supportive engineering team where training and development are encouraged, giving you the chance to build a long‑term career in manufacturing maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site services.
  • Fault find and repair equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and support equipment reliability across the site.

Qualifications

  • Electrical background from industrial, commercial, facilities, manufacturing or maintenance environments.
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding skills.
  • Willingness to develop mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, control systems and power distribution (advantageous).
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
  • Proactive approach and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork ability.
  • Previous maintenance engineering experience is beneficial but not essential.

Desirable

  • Experience within pharmaceutical, food, FMCG or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Basic PLC or automation fault‑finding knowledge.
  • Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent technical certification.
