Science Instructor – Northampton

Location: NorthamptonStart Date: June or September 2026Contract Type: Full‑Time | Long‑Term | Potential for Permanent PositionPay Rate: £120-£190 per day (based on experience and responsibilities)

Are you a Science graduate or aspiring educator looking to gain valuable classroom experience? Do you have a passion for inspiring young people and supporting students in their understanding of Science?

We are currently recruiting for a Science Instructor to join a supportive secondary school in Northampton from June or September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for graduates, experienced tutors, cover supervisors, or unqualified teachers looking to build their experience within a school setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Science department to deliver engaging lessons and support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and structured Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Support lesson planning and adapt materials to meet different learning needs
  • Explain scientific concepts in clear and accessible ways
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and professionally
  • Support students with classwork, practical activities, and independent learning
  • Track pupil progress and provide feedback where required
  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and wider school activities

Qualifications

  • Graduates with a degree in a Science‑related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science, etc.)
  • Candidates with experience working with young people or within education
  • Individuals with strong communication skills and confidence leading groups
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and proactive team players
  • Those considering future teacher training routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or QTS Apprenticeships
  • Applicants with an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
