Job Title: Multi Trade Operative
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £39,080.97 per annum
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, full time
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Location: East London/Essex
Role Overview
The role is to carry out general multi‑trade works for planned maintenance upgrades, including, but not limited to, kitchens and bathrooms. Sites will mainly be occupied by our customers and the locations will be across the organisation’s stock. The successful candidate will be provided with a van, fuel card and all PPE.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out general multi‑trade activities including painting and decorating, tiling, and plastering in accordance with One Direct’s performance specifications.
- Carrying out routine carpentry and plumbing tasks as required.
- Completing works in accordance with current Building Regulations Approved Documents and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Work flexibly as part of a team to deliver the annual component replacement target.
- Responsible for carrying out all jobs allocated via One Serve and meeting all necessary system requirements from start through to completion.
- Maintain, replenish and keep records of materials issued for van stock on One Serve.
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures and processes are followed at all times.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service standards and a work ethic that avoids complaints.
- Carry out other duties as deemed necessary by the line manager; if those duties are of a greater level of responsibility or skill, full training and appropriate supervision will be provided.
- Ensure responsibilities for Health and Safety are properly understood and discharged as defined in One Direct’s Health & Safety Policy and that concerns are promptly communicated.

Person Specification
- Essential
- Experience within the construction sector.
- Good understanding of legislation in maintenance and property management.
- Good standard of education.
- Good customer service skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self‑motivated, assertive and confident.
- Desirable
- Proven track record of problem solving, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
- Resilience and readiness to take responsibility.
- Housing and/or buildings knowledge.
- NVQ2 or NVQ3 qualifications in painting and decorating, plastering, and/or tiling.
