Children’s Support Worker / Therapeutic Boarding Staff

About Wilds Lodge
Wilds Lodge School is an independent specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls accepted as day learners only) for learners aged 5 to 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Established in 2007, the school places a high emphasis on educational, social and psychological development, with a strong ethos supported by experienced staff and close relationships with learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic and residential support as part of the care team, working within a house group of up to 20 learners.
- Serve as a personal support worker for up to 5 learners under the direction of the team leader.
- Engage with learners to support their social, emotional and independence skills.
- Maintain accurate care records and contribute to learners’ Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
- Participate in regular training on child protection, mental health, multi‑agency working and SEN (Autism, attachment, ADHD).
- Support the house environment and contribute to a safe, nurturing and stimulating setting.
Working Hours
- Shift 1 – Monday to Thursday: 2.30 pm to 10.00 pm.
- Shift 2 – Friday: 8.00 am to 4.00 pm (plus flexi time) – total 42.5 hours per week.
- Term time only.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Commitment to learning and working with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Experience with children with autism is not required but a desire to learn is essential.
- GCSE/O’level or equivalent (desirable).
- Willingness to complete a funded NVQ Level 3 if required.
