Duty Manager – Leisure Centre
Freedom Leisure, a leading charitable leisure trust across England and Wales, is recruiting a Duty Manager for one of our leisure centres. The role will support the delivery of a wide range of services and ensure customers receive an excellent experience.
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday‑Sunday (rota basis)
Salary: up to £26,834 per annum
Responsibilities
- Actively manage, develop and motivate a team of operational staff
- Be responsible for day‑to‑day duty management and running of the leisure centre to the highest standard
- Contribute to and understand the business and budgetary performance of the centre
- Be a proactive member of the leisure centre team, providing ideas and suggestions
- Coordinate the planning and organisation of events and activities for the centre
- Make decisions with autonomy and respond swiftly to variable demands
- Assist customers, ensuring their safety and satisfaction
- Communicate effectively with team members and senior management
- Maintain and enhance the quality of customer service delivered at the centre
- Support the achievement of quality and safety objectives
- Make professional contributions that will genuinely improve people’s lives through leisure
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a Duty Management or similar role
- Experience in problem‑solving, customer service and staff management
- RLSS Nation pool qualification (desirable; training may be provided)
- Enhanced DBS check required
- Strong communication skills and a passion for the leisure industry
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Capacity to work flexibly, with a high level of decision‑making confidence
