SIJKEIGH Support Worker – Days or Nights | Private Client

Salary: £29,113 – £30,565 per annum plus sleep‑in allowance.

About The Role

Our client, a reputable provider of care and support to children and young people aged 7‑18, is looking to appoint an additional Support Worker to their home in Keighley.

The children and young people may have learning disabilities, challenging behaviours, autism or ADHD, and may also have suffered neglect, trauma, sexual exploitation or other types of domestic abuse. Our client maintains an extremely high standard of care, putting the children at the heart of everything they do and aiming to give them the best possible future.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, assistance, and support to young people, safeguarding their welfare at all times.
  • Meet the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of young people.
  • Attend to young people’s practical, physical, and emotional needs and act as an appropriate role model.
  • Work closely with young people to enable them to address difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.
  • Handle practical matters relating to childcare (cooking, cleaning, etc.).
  • Establish positive relationships with young people and always offer unconditional and positive regard.
  • Help young people gain self‑control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro‑social conduct.
  • Ensure each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
  • Attend young people’s meetings and contribute to them.
  • Drive company vehicles (current driving licence holders subject to procedures).

Qualifications and Experience

  • A kind, caring and compassionate nature, with a fair but firm approach.
  • A recognised qualification in Residential Child Care at Level 3 or 4.
  • Formal or informal experience of supporting young people who may have social and emotional difficulties or behaviour that challenges.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Ability to work shifts and sleep in the home overnight.
