As a Sales/Station Assistant GPR you will be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service each and every time. You will often be the first point of contact our customers will meet on their journey and it is therefore a vital role for making our customers’ day.
It is a multi‑functional role: you will work on the Platform and at the Ticket Office.
Because of the shift times you must live in the local area and have independent transport to arrive at the station for the early shift, as there may not always be a train service available.
All station‑based roles may involve standing for long periods and working shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
As a Sales/Station Assistant GPR you must demonstrate a “can do” attitude, strong customer focus and excellent communication skills, all with the customer at the forefront. Working on a shift basis, including weekends, this role delivers customer service across the station including ticket‑office and platform activities. You will be in the Ticket Office or at the station dispatching the trains and proactively finding the right ticket for customers while delivering excellent customer service to new and regular customers. We have the latest computer‑based ticketing system which can provide any information our customers may need and has direct access to our intranet.
You will also be responsible for keeping the station operational and assisting customers where necessary.

- Demonstrable experience of managing customers effectively in difficult environments
- High level of numerical ability
- Due to the shift times, which will vary, you must live in the local area and have available independent transport
- Effective communication and must be able to demonstrate this through your application or assessments
- Confidence to make decisions in a customer‑focused manner and carry out instructions effectively
Please note that as this role is a “General Purpose Relief” you will be obliged to work at other stations in the area in addition to Beford as and when required.
