Position Summary

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. Start date: September 2026. Salary: Grade B, SCP 4, £25,185 (Actual Salary per annum £17,065). Hours: 27.5. Location: The Priory Primary School. Contract type: Part Time. Contract term: Permanent.

We are seeking to appoint an individual who has an interest and passion for SEND and working in an EYFS/KS1 environment, to further strengthen our provision and ensure that both pupils and staff are well supported.

Responsibilities

Roles will vary from small group work and/or supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis as and when required, particularly those individuals with EHCPs or SEN needs. Recent experience of working in an Early Years/KS1 environment or a well‑developed knowledge of this phase is essential to this role. The successful candidate will need to be very flexible and have the capacity to work five days a week (term time only).

Candidate Profile

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEND and committed to helping every child thrive.
  • Experienced in, or knowledgeable about, working within an EYFS and/or KS1 setting.
  • Able to support pupils effectively on a 1:1 basis, particularly children with additional needs.
  • Confident in leading or supporting small group activities to help children make progress.
  • Caring, patient and nurturing in their approach to children’s learning and development.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of pupils and the school.
  • Positive, enthusiastic and warm, with an encouraging manner.
  • Able to build strong relationships with children, staff and families.
  • A strong team player who contributes positively to school life.
