Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant
We are looking for an experienced Residential Support or Youth Worker based in Crewe or the surrounding areas to work in schools around Crewe supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs who demonstrate challenging behaviours. The role combines teaching assistant duties with pastoral support, helping students to stay on task, manage their behaviour, and engage with peers and teachers.
The position offers a work/life balance with shorter shifts and no overnight duties.
Responsibilities
- Support classroom teachers to enable effective teaching.
- Keep children on task and help them manage challenging behaviours.
- Engage pupils with SEMH needs, encouraging emotional regulation.
- Communicate with peers and teachers to support student progress.
- Apply de-escalation and behaviour management techniques.
Qualifications
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or other disabilities and needs.
- Ability to hold student attention and communicate effectively in difficult situations.
- Experience in encouraging emotional regulation and supporting pupils with SEMH needs to flourish.
